TALES@home is a tool for multilingual families, with a strong family-centered approach. It can be used to enhance the language environment at home and in situations where the language choices have an influence on individual family members’ wellbeing and language learning abilities. Varied activities are helping the different family members to reflect on their language use (especially at home), linked emotions and expectations. Secondly they are encouraged to talk about these issues in an open and respectful way. The role of the professional during the use of the tool is to reinforce this reflection and communication.
The tool is available for professionals speaking English, German, French, Italian, Lithuanian and Dutch.
In this course we will present the wider perspective of sustaining multilingual families to help to create a stimulating language learning environment taking into account the wellbeing of each family member. There will be time to exchange experiences and cases. Participants will practice the use of the tool. The visits create the possibility to observe activities with children/parents.
Our methodology will try to stimulate active participation and sharing of all participants involved. In this way, we aim to build a diverse and stimulating environment for reflecting, working and learning.
After the confirmation and before starting, we check the previous knowledge and experience of participants, as well as their specific needs related to the topics of our training course. Every participant will be asked to prepare a short family case.
Trainers and company will be available for any further questions after the end of the course, either through e-mail, virtual, individual Skype calls, telephone or WhatsApp. By means of all these tools, we aim to get an effective follow-up, to stimulate networking, to keep in touch and to share opinions, experiences and practices.
The training is given by two partners of the TALES@home project. The receiving partner Foyer vzw and the European Academy of Bozen/Bolzano.
